Though we’re deep in summer, starting a brand new project makes it feel like it’s spring again, infusing our imaginations with fresh ideas. We were thrilled to be approached by The City of Nanaimo to refresh their branding and marketing collateral.
Going back to our roots, we brought out the pen and paper to design a modern and expressive brand concept for The Green Group, the City’s internal sustainability program. The hand-illustrated wordmark portrays a sense of play and naturalism, and the leaf, which is synonymous with nature, is a reflection of the curves in the City of Nanaimo logo. The looping letter “G” and shade of green communicate liveliness and a passion for the environment.
The versatility needed from the wordmark was kept at the forefront, and the clean nature of the design allows it to translate effectively across a variety of media, including stationary, clothing, signage and web.
This brand design was a fun beginning to the larger project, and we loved doing it. Keep your eyes on the horizon, there will be more to come!
