What is your favourite part of your job?
I love the creativity of coming up with development solutions and learning how to improve my skills. It feels like a puzzle—it can be challenging to see how all the pieces fit in the moment, but it pays off when you start to see it all come together. I really enjoy the time I spend doing it. In fact, I take these skills outside of work and practice coding in my downtime.
What do you get up to when you’re not working?
Other than coding, I like to play Dungeons & Dragons with friends, cook delicious food (like a mean Eggs Benny), watch Netflix, and play video games. I also try to work out often and spend as much time as I can on Gabriola Island with my family (which is where I grew up).
How has your education or experience prepared you for your career?
I went to Vancouver Island University and majored in Computer Science. Not only did I learn to code, but I gained confidence working with different computer systems and valuable knowledge on how to build them. I met really cool people who taught me valuable skills in this profession. Safe to say, I had a great time!
