The Village of Port Alice is a small fishing community located on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. With a population just shy of 700 people, Port Alice needed a website that could communicate municipal information to residents while also attracting tourists to the surrounding region. Due to technical issues that shut down their original website, they needed a new one fast. The Array team put our creative minds together and came up with a strategy to make it happen.

What Work Did We Do For Them?

  • Initial short term microsite
  • Brand colour palette
  • Created icon set to complement website design
  • Custom web design + development for desktop and mobile

How Did We Help Them Out?

  • With a tight timeline in mind, we knew it was important to get Port Alice back online. We adopted a phased approach to their website. We first designed and developed a basic site to ensure residents and tourists could get in contact with the right people. And then put together a fully responsive version that’s both desktop and mobile-friendly.
  • Using their logo, we created a custom colour palette for their brand identity to make their site visually dynamic.
  • We designed customized icons to support content navigation and anchored a custom shortcut button to the top of every page that drops down to reveal highly searched information.
  • Hover states are interactive featuring natural elements like moving waves and colour changes.
  • Fully customized WordPress build giving them the freedom and flexibility to adjust as needed.
