Established in 2013 by Synergy Foundation, BC Green Business is a certification program that provides small to medium-sized businesses with affordable and practical solutions to reduce their environmental footprint while bolstering their social initiatives. Originally a regional program called Vancouver Island Green Business, they were expanding their horizons provincially and changed the program name in the process. In need of support to attract new members province-wide, they reached out to our team to refresh their brand and design a website. Our goal was to paint BC Green Business as a beneficial program that’s as easy to join as it is to execute. In fact, the work inspired us so much that we ended up becoming BC Green members too

- BC Green Business had an existing brand but felt their logo design was outdated. Looking to evolve it to be more refined and current, our graphic design team created a variation utilizing the same circular graphic and to frame B.C.’s natural beauty. To create visual harmony, they divided the top and bottom with a decorative swoop that represents B.C.’s long coastline while creating sense of motion and approachability. In the top half, they anchored B.C.’s lush mountains, while in the bottom half, they utilized curving semi-circles to create a leaf and symbolize BC’s crops, hills, and fields.
- With a fresh logo design in place, our graphic designers created a brand guidelines that features a newly established primary and secondary palette, typography rules, and logo applications to ensure brand consistency across all touch points.
- Using the newly established brand, our graphic design team updated the illustrative style of membership decals for print and created custom iconography to help visually communicate member benefits across the website.
- To help boost B.C. Green Business’s visibility online and improve search rankings, our digital marketing team put together a Keyword Analysis identifying commonly searched terms by their target demographic. The keywords informed the information architecture ensuring key pages across the website are optimized.
- Our web designers created an intuitive and user-friendly web design for both desktop and mobile that guides visitors along a narrative journey and directly to the information they need.
- Our web developers programmed a responsive and interactive site with key features such as parallax scrolling, animated hover states, and clear call-to-action buttons. The member directory features category filtering to help users segement information quicker, as well as map and list views. The member directory and content across the website is completely editable and managed by BC Green Business in the backend.
