Masthead Living is an up-and-coming multi-family development that will be located near the Yacht Club on Nanaimo’s scenic waterfront. Close to the downtown core, future residents will be within walking distance from restaurants, entertainment, and transportation. Having approached Array with a placeholder logo, the team at Masthead were ready to establish a brand that would reflect their thoughtful, modern approach to design and building.

- To kick off the brand development process, our team needed to understand the pain points, goals, and vision for this project. Using a brand creative brief, we go through a discovery process to uncover the unique benefits and ethos of the new brand.
- With a creative brief in hand, our graphic designers pull high-level keywords to create a mood board and colour palette. The mood board pairs words with imagery to gain a better understanding of the visual direction the brand will take.
- For colours, our graphic designers chose to anchor the brand in two tones of blue: Navy (deep and dark) and Mist (light and bright). Navy connects to the tranquility and serenity of the coasts, and Mist conveys qualities of calmness and balance.
- Using these graphic design elements, our team developed a logo design with a traditional line illustration. The concept showcases the facade of the building with subtle details that connect to the charming historic neighbourhood. The detailed linework is paired with an ‘M’ and ‘L’ to create a timeless monogram that feels elegant and sophisticated.
- To anchor the logo design, we chose a clean slab serif font that features both traditional and modern styles merging the past with present-day living. This creates the perfect balance between comfort and class.
