The Nanaimo Foundation plays a vital role in Vancouver Island’s charitable landscape, connecting donors, advisors, and charities to build a stronger, more connected community. While their impact was clear, their messaging and online presence needed to work harder to engage their audiences. Having worked with them in the past, we were excited to team up again to create a messaging strategy, marketing collateral and website that would boost their brand and better connect with their audiences. How Did We Help Them Out?
  • The Nanaimo Foundation had a general sense of their audiences but needed a clearer path to connect with them. Through a comprehensive messaging strategy exercise, we developed detailed audience personas, clarified their mission and vision, and crafted a unique value proposition. With a refined brand voice and key messaging in place, we gave the Nanaimo Foundation the tools to better engage their audiences and inspire meaningful action in their marketing efforts.
  • With a messaging strategy in place, our design team revisited Nanaimo Foundation’s brand and established a brand system including updated colours, typography, icons, and patterns.
  • To kick off the web development, our digital marketing team conducted a keyword analysis to better understand how to boost the Nanaimo Foundation’s online visibility. This keyword analysis also helped shape the information architecture, resulting in a user-friendly site that makes it easier for potential donors, advisors, and charitable organizations to find what they need and contribute to the foundation’s impactful work.
  • The new website is modern, user-friendly, and designed with the foundation’s different target audiences in mind. It provides a seamless experience to access resources, explore grants, read donor stories, and easily make a donation.
  • The homepage banner features dynamic, rotating images from a ferry perspective—an iconic view that resonates with every Islander. This design is further supported with rotating headlines that emphasize Nanaimo Foundation’s impact. Using the established brand voice and tone, our copywriting team also crafted homepage content that guides visitors through a clear narrative journey and deeper into the website.
  • A new “Impact” section highlights donor stories and past grants, showcasing the tangible difference donations make while celebrating the foundation’s contributions to the community.
  • Dynamic and editable sections, including “Donate to a Fund,” donor stories, and news, empower the Nanaimo Foundation team to keep content fresh and easily editable.
  • We integrated Mailchimp for efficient newsletter management, enabling the Nanaimo Foundation to easily create, send, and track email campaigns to stay connected to their donors and the community.
  • We designed consistent marketing materials to align with the refreshed brand identity. These include business cards, letterhead, standing banners, and Canva social media templates, ensuring cohesion across all print and digital platforms.
