Village of Tahsis
Celebrating a region’s ancient cultural roots.
Location
Tahsis, BC

Nestled on the west coast of Vancouver Island, the Village of Tahsis is a haven for ecotourism – they just needed help being put on the map! Looking to modernize their tourism website, they awarded us with a contract to cleanly and effectively communicate the area’s unique experiences and current happenings with potential tourists, citizens, businesses, and village staff, while simultaneously honouring and celebrating the ancient cultural roots of the region.

How Did We Help Them Out?
  • To maintain brand consistency with Destination BC, our graphic design team created hand-lettered brand elements and tagline for an organic aesthetic.
  • Our marketing strategists put together an Information Architecture that optimizes the user-experience by putting a dual focus on ecotourism and community information.
  • Using existing information, our web designers structured content in an intuitive and easy-to-digest way ensuring information is accessible to the public. We designed three new sections: A document management system, allowing village citizens, businesses, and others to easily find and print the forms. A business listings system, where businesses can optionally submit their own information. An economic development section, which will be ready for future growth as the Village of Tahsis team develops content.
  • Our web developers programmed the website on the open source CMS WordPress, allowing for flexibility and ease of updating. The site is fully mobile responsive, and includes site search functionality with PDF indexing.
  • To support internal operations, our programming team added an events calendar with submission system and feeds, a news/blog with social media integration, PayPal invoice payments, interactive Maps via Google, an alert/notice system, and customizable online forms.
