The Village of Port Alice

Developing an online gateway to the wild west coast.

The Village of Port Alice is a small fishing community located on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island. With a population just shy of 700 people, Port Alice needed a website that could communicate municipal information to residents while also attracting tourists to the surrounding region. Due to technical issues that shut down their original website, they needed web development services to quickly create a new site. The Array team put our creative minds together and came up with a strategy to make it happen.

How Did We Help Them Out?
  • With a tight timeline in mind, we knew it was important to get Port Alice back online. We adopted a phased approach to their website. We first designed and developed a basic site to ensure residents and tourists could get in contact with the right people. And then put together a fully responsive version that’s both desktop and mobile-friendly.
  • Using their logo, we created a custom colour palette for their brand identity to make their site visually dynamic.
  • We designed customized icons to support content navigation and anchored a custom shortcut button to the top of every page that drops down to reveal highly searched information.
  • Hover states are interactive featuring natural elements like moving waves and colour changes.
  • Fully customized WordPress build giving them the freedom and flexibility to adjust as needed.
